Events Every Week Night During Lent! We are preparing a very special Lent for you this year! Lent begins on Ash Wednesday, February 17. We will be opening up our doors for prayer every weeknight of Lent and we ask that you come Experience the Light of Christ. We will have faith offerings each of those nights! You can come each day, once a week or just occasionally but we challenge each of you to come at least 3 times during Lent. More details and a full calendar available soon!

The Knights of Columbus are once again sponsoring our semi-annual Sacred Heart Blood Drive, to be held on Thursday, March 4, 2021 from 2:00 – 6:30 PM in the Parish Center. For an appointment, please contact new Blood Drive Chair Todd Bindel, at 515-710-7810, or you can also schedule your appointment online at www.lifeservebloodcenter.org. With the continuing Covid-19 Pandemic, there continues to be a critical need for blood, so be Christ like and give the “Gift of Life” by donating blood during our upcoming “Lenten” season. Thank you for your continuing support of the Sacred Heart Blood Drives.

Inclement Weather If Sacred Heart School is CLOSED due to snow or ice, Sacred Heart Masses, Children’s Faith Formation classes and all meetings will also be cancelled. If it should clear off during the day, all events will remain cancelled. If school is DELAYED, 8:00 am Mass will be held as usual. Please tune in to local radio or TV for weather closing announcements. Even in a year unlike any in our lifetime, Sacred Heart continues to share the good news of God’s love! We found new ways to touch the community and stay connected. Celebrate all the good of 2020 by watching our video. Your year end gift is so important to help us continue to share God’s love (and it’s tax deductible too).

We are thankful for you and we miss you. With Thanksgiving, Sacred Heart staff delivered over 100 yard signs to parishioners this week. Each delivery included a special prayer for the residence. We delivered them to our homebound, our prayer chain list, our lonely, our vulnerable and many more! We want you to have one, too! Pick up a yard sign and a prayer card after all Masses this weekend and be assured of our prayers for you! Display your Sacred Heart yard sign proudly in your yard and enjoy the blessings that flow from being part of the Sacred Heart community! You may also pick up a sign in the church office while supplies last.

At Sacred Heart, we are taking all of the recommended steps to keep you safe! Volunteers and ushers wear masks, the church is cleaned after all Masses, seating for parishioners socially-distanced throughout the church, mask wearing highly encouraged at all times on the Sacred Heart campus, extra Masses have been added to accommodate more parishioners. We understand that anyone who is vulnerable, elderly or lives with someone who is at-risk should continue to stay home. We will still be offering Masses live-streamed on our website at www.sacredheartwdm.org/mass. If you are well and getting back into community activities, however, we encourage you to come to Holy Communion and join us at Mass!

The Diocese of Des Moines provides baptismal education to all 80 parishes. Over 1700 new members to the faith through baptism were welcomed in 2019. ARE YOU SOMEONE OR DO YOU KNOW SOMEONE WHO… Has expressed an interest in becoming Catholic? Was baptized Catholic as a child, but has not celebrated the Sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist? We offer an opportunity to come together in a small group to learn more about our faith. Sessions focus on the teachings and experience of Church and prepare individuals to celebrate the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist during the Easter season. You are welcome to participate in the process with your questions, your insights and your faith story in a warm accepting setting. Spend some quiet time with the Lord. Join us for adoration. Adoration is held on the first Tuesday of every month following 8 am Mass until 7 pm.
