Infant Baptism: As your prepare your child for Baptism we want to welcome you into our Sacred Heart community. Our Baptism preparation is called Belonging. It involves two sessions where you will get to know other couples from Sacred Heart and start fostering relationships that help you to feel like you Belong as well.
For the English-speaking classes, sessions this winter are the second and fourth Sundays of the month following the 9:30 Mass. Sessions run from 10:30am-12:30pm. We encourage expectant couples to attend sessions before baby is born. However, if baby has already arrived we welcome you as well.
The Spanish-speaking Baptism classes will be held on the second and fourth Mondays of the month at 5:00 pm.
Please call the office 515-225-6414 to register.
Adult Baptism: If you are an adult preparing for your own Baptism, you must undergo a period of preparation before receiving the Sacrament. This preparation is called the catechumenate and is designed to bring the faith of the candidate to maturity. Through the process, the catechumen is exposed to the life of faith, the liturgy and the love of the people of God through the rites of initiation. CLICK HERE to learn more about becoming Catholic. Contact Joan Miller for details to guide you through the necessary steps of preparing for and celebrating the sacrament of baptism. All dates for Baptisms must be scheduled through the parish office staff.
