The Church, "in the course of the year...unfolds the whole mystery of Christ from his Incarnation and Nativity through his Ascension, to Pentecost and the expectation of the blessed hope of the coming of the Lord." CCC 1194
The Art & Environment committee takes special care to create surroundings that reflect the seasons of our Liturgical Calendar, and enhance the worship at Sacred Heart. The environment in which we worship is vital to creating a space that promotes a prayerful manner in which to celebrate the Mass.
The surroundings in the church, with each change of season, adjust the mood of the participants. The changing colors ground us as we experience, once again, the life of Christ.
With each changing season, a group of members gather to decorate the church. If you are interested in helping as we decorate our church, contact Pam Douglas for dates and times.
If you are interested in learning more about our Catholic faith, the liturgical calendar, and the symbolism present in our place of worship, click here to see our Resource Page which will describe each season of our liturgical year, and will provide links to additional sources of information. The USCCB (United States Council of Catholic Bishops) has a Liturgical Calendar you can bookmark and follow.
