Sacred Heart Church Women's Guild

We would love to have you join Women's Guild! Click here for the membership form. You can either bring to your first meeting, or put in the Women's Guild slot in the church office vestibule. You can include the fee with the form.

There are two types of membership if you are interested in joining the Women's Guild:

If you wish to be an Active Member, you can participate in any or all of the following: attend regularly scheduled meetings, help to plan and facilitate the service projects, staff Guild social events and fund-raisers, and provide salads or desserts for funerals. You will be invited to and notified of all circle and Guild-wide social and spiritual events.

If you wish to become a Benefactor, you will not be called or notified of meetings or volunteer events, you will be contacted to contribute cakes or salads for funerals, and you will be asked to contribute to the bake sale if you wish.

The Annual Membership Fee is $10 and is due at the beginning of the membership drive in August. Members over the age of 80 pay no fee! To be a member, you must be 18 years of age.

Sacred Heart Church | Women's Guild

The Sacred Heart Parish Women's Guild is a Sacred Heart Church | Women's Guild community of women who contribute to our parish, our surrounding community and those in need throughout the world. The objective of the organization is to provide an opportunity to become better acquainted with women of our parish and to support the parish through various activities and fundraising.

The list of activities extends throughout the year and offer something for everyone! Meetings are held each month, with two meetings each year combined with the Knights of Columbus. All meetings are held in the evening and include entertainment, food and beverages for a minimal charge.

This spring, the Women's Guild provided flowers that were presented to the Mothers of Sacred Heart on Mother's Day. It was a wonderful gift and a nice way to honor our mothers!

Some of the activities include: Bunco; Fall Fashion Show; Movie Night; The Sweetheart Spa; and the Advent Dinner and St. Patrick's Day Celebration with the Knights of Columbus.

There are also several activities designed to give back to the parish and our community: Sacred Heart Church | Women's Guild
** Baptismal cloths are made for babies baptized at Sacred Heart;
** Bake sales raise money that is contributed to various organizations;
** Parish office luncheons are provided as a way to say 'thank you' to the parish staff;
** Hats and gloves are collected to give to those in need;
** Salads and cakes are provided for Sacred Heart funeral luncheons;
** Meals are provided and served to the Catholic Worker's House, for parish projects, and the parish picnic.

To be a member of the Sacred Heart Parish Women's Guild is to be a contributing member of the parish and the community.

* Women's Guild will be holding the last circle meeting (until next fall) on Thursday, May 16 at 6:30 in the parish center. The speaker will be Teresa Dunbar who will be sharing her experiences from her recent trip to Haiti. Please bring a salad or dessert to share. In addition, Women's Guild will be collecting clothing to donate to West Des Moines Humans Service.

* The Women's Guild will be providing a bake sale for the CFF Final Celebration on April 10. All proceeds will got to CFF.

* Thank you to everyone who donated a shoe box to the Gabriel Project, and donated a gift for the Jesse Tree during December. You donations were much appreciated!

* In October and November of 2012, the Women's Guild gathered new and used hats, gloves and scarves to donate to those less fortunate in our community.

* On November 5, the Women's Guild met in the parish center for their monthly meeting, and to learn more about the Family Violence Center. After, they made casseroles for the center. They are also gathering items for the Gabriel project. This will be the last meeting until January 2013. See the minutes from the meeting below.

* If you are interested in providing cakes and salads for funerals, please contact Mary Gallardo at 710-8381, You do not need to be a guild member to donate.
