Sacred Heart Church | Mass of RememberenceDuring the 11:15 Mass on Sunday, November 2, parishioners of Sacred Heart Church gathered to remember loved ones lost during the year. Family members each carried a candle with a name and placed it in front of the altar. The glow from so many candles was a beautiful reminder of the love of Christ, and of those we cherish and miss.

Love in the Heart of Christ Parish Day Sacred Heart Church | Love In The Heart Of Christof Service was held on Sunday, October 26. Volunteers from the parish spent the day in and around our community helping with a variety of projects. It was an especially perfect day for raking leaves! After a full day of working and having a great time, all gathered in the parish center for a chili supper. There's nothing like a full day of work to bring out an appetite! We want to extend a sincere thank you to everyone who participated. It was a great day!

Sacred Heart Church | Sunday PreschoolSunday, October 26 was not such a scary Halloween party at Sunday morning preschool. Sunday morning preschool is held at Sacred Heart School during 9:30 Mass each week from September to March. The 3, 4 and 5 year old children sing songs, read stories, learn to pray and have a great time. Last week, they learned that Christ is our Light - and learning about Jesus can be lots of fun! If you are interested in learning more, please call the church office at 225-6414.

Sacred Heart Church | Hispanic Mass
Several months ago, Dorothy Pisarski was contacted to play for some of the Hispanic Masses held on Sundays at 1:00 pm. Dorothy took it upon herself to form a choir of women to sing and began practicing several weeks ago. They sang for the first time at Mass on Sunday, October 12. We would like to extend a big THANK YOU to this group of women pictured here who have contributed precious time to create a beautiful worship environment for our 1:00 pm Mass!

Sacred Heart Church | Confirmation 2014"Be sealed with the Gift of the Holy Spirit." On Sunday, October 12, 2014, 98 young Catholics from Sacred Heart Church answered this call at the Confirmation Mass. We congratulate these young people on the commitment they have made to their Catholic faith, and we thank parents, sponsors, family and friends who have played a part in the journey. We would also like to thank the many people who worked to make this Mass a beautiful celebration! Our prayer is that faith will continue to grow for our newly confirmed with the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

Sacred Heart Church joined forces with the Catholic Sacred Heart Church | Habitat Catholic Circle of FaithCircle of Faith co-sponsors to build a house. Agnes, the new home owner, is shown here at the dedication which was held on October 4, 2014. Pat Baumhover presented Agnes with a Bible as a special gift. The house is located at 1031 SE 9th Street in Des Moines.
