Sunday, September 14 was the very first pancake breakfast for the year! The Knights of Columbus (and a few extra helpers) were busy all morning as they fed smiling faces (shown in the picture here). The Knights hold a pancake breakfast about once a month on a Sunday morning in the parish center. The donations they collect at the pancake breakfast each month go to support a wide variety of parish and community organizations. Watch this page for the next breakfast! The Rite of Acceptance and Welcoming for our RCIA adults was held on Sunday, September 7, 2014 during the 9:30 am Mass. The participants pictures above will be learning about our Catholic faith all throughout the year and will be joining the Church at Easter Vigil. If you are interested in learning more about the process of RCIA, please CLICK HERE.
Join us for Children's Liturgy of the Word dismissal, held during 9:30 am Mass each week. Children who are in kindergarten and older are invited to follow the group for an interpretation of the Gospel created just for them. The children also learn many of the basics of our weekly liturgy which will help them begin to understand the depth of our Catholic faith. There is no charge for this program.

Can summer really be over? I guess so, since Sacred Heart School is back in session! Classes began on on August 20. You can tell by the smiles on these happy faces that this is going to be another great year. The legacy of Sacred Heart School goes back quite a few years. Building on the first stage of the new school was started in 1954. The church at the current site came much later. The first Mass was held on December 14, 1968 but the the VERY FIRST Sacred Heart Church was built in the late 1800s, located in Valley Junction. We are very proud of our heritage and have no doubt that these students will carry on the tradition of faith we have shared at Sacred Heart for over 200 years. A little bit of hot weather did not keep the parishioners of Sacred Heart from having a great day at the annual parish picnic! On Sunday, August 24, we gathered over 800 people on the church grounds for a day full of fun! Various groups provided food, drink, activities and fabulous entertainment. We can always count on the Knights of Columbus to cook a great burger! The picnic, led by our tireless volunteer Bill Wieland, was a huge success due to Bill's leadership and the hard work of many many volunteers! Thanks to everyone who joined in to make this a wonderful end to summer. CLICK HERE to learn more about our great day!
